THE FEED

The Feed is The Raven Corps’ anti-oppression cookbook. In 2021, working closely with Lead Raven, Serena, and Conspirators from TRC’s HQ, Ravens wrote stories, created visual art, and shared Vegan recipes that are near and dear to them. In the book, Ravens share personal and cultural stories of food, explore how food can be a means of resistance, and share their favorite recipes! Available through Lantern Publishing.

Food as resistance means not giving into food-based stereotypes as they may pertain to race, gender and body type.
— Mia Vierck, lead Raven
Food as resistance means wielding food as a source of power, community, rebellion, and inspiration in a society that commands us to simply view food as either pure sustenance or guilt.
— Cami Hoffman, Community Coordinator
Food as resistance can be used to keep your culture intact, even if you’re far from home. By making educated choices about the food we eat, we have a direct impact on food systems that go against our morals and our climate. Food is versatile, strong, adaptable, and perhaps one of the most beautiful things mankind has ever had the joy of experiencing. And what’s a better way to screw the system than happiness?
— Shubangi Bose, lead Raven
Food as resistance means feeling good about what I eat.
— Rowan Spillman, lead Raven
Food as resistance means knowing that the foods you eat are not only helping you become a better person, but also helping the most vulnerable. We need to resist cruelty and violence... and the whole story begins on our plates.
— Noable Roberson, Lead Raven
Working on this Operation brought me closer to many things, from my fellow Ravens to my relationship with food. I am so pleased with what we’ve created here, and I hope you be too.
— Serena Holland, lead raven for the Feed
